First Chandler vs. Alvarez fight was a back-and-forth war, a better fight than the much ballyhooed Henderson-Shogun match up on the same night. Watch Spike Saturday for what could be the best free card of the year.
Lawler career revitalized since dropping to 170. Can he continue his brutal winning streak against Rory McDonald? I'm looking forward to seeing how the fight unfolds next month and both guys' strategies for winning.
Mr. R. asked about the recent lack of Mr. R. specials, so.... Guess I've gotta pay more attention between rounds rather than shaking martinis because I didn't even know Chrissy Blair was an Octagon girl.
Met a friend of Ellenberger's and promised to do a scrawl. After destroying the almost-finished first attempt, I actually got the second one done (with the usual anti-ruler,cage-fence issues). If you want it, contact me. Cheers!
Lots of mile-high problems lately (canceled flights, massive delays, re-routings) and I read a book (can't recommend it to "normal" people, but highly recommended for Marvel Zombies, The Untold History of Marvel Comics), hence the lack of scrawls. Bad news for the mma world, I've resumed the ongoing destruction of innocent pencils and paper, lol.
Watched Sweeney Todd, great flick. Only Tim Burton, Johnny Depp and Helen Bonham Carter could pull off a musical about a homicidal barber. Worth a view, especially if you're a little twisted.
If one can ignore the relentless UFC hype machine, it's hard seeing how Weidman beats Silva unless Spider hurt or unprepared. Best fight on paper = Siver v. Swanson. Either of them ought to be fighting Frankie. Like both but gotta root for Cub.
Finally saw Amazing Spider-Man this week. Not as true to the Lee-Ditko-Romita tales as Sam Raimi's films, but an entertaining, fun flick with enough comic-book references to keep hard-core geeks happy.
