Friday Comic Booker: Fantastic Four #61

Kirby rules.

Read this reprint as kid. Didn't find out the story's conclusion until far into pseudo adulthood.

Lettering improving, but still as far to go as the world in defeating the coronavirus outbreak.

Enjoy your weekend and stay safe!

Friday Comic Booker: Amazing Spider-Man 151

Another fantastic Gil Kane layout inked by John Romita.

Hard to beat that dynamic duo of comic-book brilliance.

Monday, June 1, 2020

Mr R Monday Special: Claire Danes Homeland

Will and I binged Homeland's first three seasons.

It's a tragic love story, right?

Stay safe!

Wednesday, May 20, 2020

Chris Rock pencil

The comedians engaging in inappropriate face-touching series continues.
Rock, of course, is too smart to touch his face during a pandemic.

Thursday, May 14, 2020

Stephen Colbert pencil

Just when you thought it was safe and the curve flattened, there's yet another comedian touching his face inappropriately.

Tuesday, May 12, 2020

Mr R. Tuesday: Phoebe Waller-Bridge pencil

The comedians engaging in inappropriate face-touching series continues.

Or is this a picture of America's angst when it discovers our calm, collected, cerebral, NIH health hunk, Dr. Fauci, has confined himself to quarantine?

Listen to Dr. Tony and stay safe!

Also watch Fleabag on Amazon.

Cheers!

Thursday, May 7, 2020

Micheal Che pencil

The comedians engaging in inappropriate face-touching series continues, but everyone knows Che is too smart to do something stupid like that.

Stay safe!

Wednesday, April 29, 2020

Kate McKinnon pencil

#5 in the comedians engaging in inappropriate face-touching series.

Stay safe and don't do what they do!!!

Monday, April 27, 2020

Mr R Monday Special: Julia Louis-Dreyfus

#3 in the comedians engaging in inappropriate face touching series.

Enjoy the funnies and avoid the touching!

Cheers!

Friday Comic Booker: Uncanny X-Men 126

Scrawled a copy of one of Dave Cockrum's great X-Men covers. Title lettering  better, but second arm of M angle off and I "skinny girled" the Y. Oh well :)
Enjoy your weekend. Keep your distance, stay safe.

Friday Comic Booker: Tales of Suspense #89

Gene Colan is supremely under-recognized for his artistic genius. He always expressed emotion in Iron Man's mask and posture. Great stuff.

Enjoy your weekend!!!

Friday comic book: New Avengers Wolverine

David Finch is a fantastic artist.

Dynamic character action and a ridiculous amount of realistic detail make his covers and comics a joy to read (and a major challenge to scrawl).

Thank you for emptying my #1 Micro Mr. Finch.

And, someday (yes, someday), I will get the title lettering right.
No guarantees, though, lol.

Enjoy your weekend!

Seth Myers pencil

Myers and other late-night comedians have become Youtubers.

We need more humor, and not just on April fools day, please keep it coming!

Wash your hands, maintain a six-foot social distance and stay safe!

Monday, March 30, 2020

Mr R Monday: Katie Ledecky pencil

If one of the world's best athletes can graciously give up four YEARS of training, accept a one-year delay of the Tokyo Olympics, and maintain a positive attitude to keep herself and others safe, we can stay inside our homes for four WEEKS.

Binge Watchmen, Dead to Me, Atypical, Mindhunter, the Sinner and Tiger King (and maybe even read a book or two, even a comic one).

Be smart, be safe, help your fellow humans and yourself.

Monday, March 23, 2020

Mr R Monday Special: Laysla De Oliveira, Locke and Key pencil

The NetFlix series is ok. Enjoyed the Umbrella Academy adaptation a lot more.

Locke-n-Key comic is much better - read it!

Please listen to the CDC and stay safe.

Friday Comic Booker: Tales of Suspense #80

Where's that dern Cosmic Cube now, when we can really use it? lol

This was one of my favorite tales as a wire-comics-rack spinning whippersnapper. Read it in Marvel Double Action. Loved almost all the
reprints like Marvel Tales, Marvel Triple Action, Marvel's Greatest Comics, monster stuff and even DC reprints too!

But some of those Dr. Strange stories in Marvel Tales totally
freaked and blew tiny kid me's mind - Ditko!

Gratuitous Marvel trivia (is there any other kind of trivia?):
cosmic cube changed reality to become movie tesseract.

And, I forgot this scrawl's title AND, which I'm sure you noticed.

Stay safe, read comics and listen to the CDC/scientists.

Wednesday, March 18, 2020

Adrianne Palicki Agents of Shield Mockingbird pencil

Stay safe and keep the social distance of three-to-six feet (just like these two). Help others, stay calm and watch Netflix. This too will pass.

Another Dan Levy pencil

See, yet another background, woo hoo! Sure, it's lame as a
comic-book metal wall,
but it is  a background, right?

Watch Schitts' Creek for some silliness, laughter and Canadian fun.

Monday, March 2, 2020

Mr R Monday Special: Annie Murphy

Keeping the background promise.

Also signed up, because I'm not smart, for another 1/2 marathon.

Enjoy your week!

Tuesday, February 25, 2020

Mr R Tuesday Special: Keri Russell

Started watching the Americans, so far, so fun.
Bad ass Felicity more fun anti-typecasting than bad ass Kevin
(although Kevin-Phillip still quite the coruscating Commie character).

Friday, February 21, 2020

Friday Comic Booker: Wonder Woman

David Finch is a brilliant artist. The layout of and attention to detail displayed
in his comic-book cover illustrations is ridiculously impressive.

Enjoy your weekend!

Tuesday, February 18, 2020

Mr R Tuesday Special: Marin Ireland (Sneaky Pete, Julia)

Everyone loves Dietsch because it's the only ice cream-chocolate shop
that starts with diet.

Thursday, February 13, 2020

Annie Murphy Schitts Creek Alexis pencil

Netflix's reverse Beverly Hillbillies, Schitts Creek, features fab, fantastic, funny, fumbling Alexis (i.e., Murphy doing her best "Kardashian" impression).

If you want some laughs, start watching.

Monday, February 10, 2020

Mr R Monday Special: Karolina Wydra, Sneaky Pete

Made 2020 semi-commitment to draw more backgrounds,
buildings, clothes and equipment.

Still haven't registered for another 1/2 yet, though, lol.

Enjoy your week!

Monday, February 3, 2020

Mr R Monday Special: Karen Gillan

Great game last night and win for the Chiefs and Coach Andy.

The Super Bowl's end means the new NFL season has just begun.

Once again, the Browns are undefeated! Go Cleveland, lol.

Wednesday, January 29, 2020

Punisher Jon Bernthal, pencil

Have I watched the Netflix's Punisher series? Of course not., Who has
time for that, especially when you examine the quality of these scrawls
(oops, maybe I should rephrase that, lol).

Would I like to watch it? Yes, just like I'd like to watch approximately 7,394 other things on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon and Disney +.

Monday, January 20, 2020

Mr R Monday Special: Zoe Kravitz, Big Little Lies

Who cares about Big, Little Lies because she's going to play Catwoman!

Can she top all-time great Julie Newmar? Bat brains will decide. :)

Enjoy MLK day and your week!

Wednesday, January 15, 2020

Jeremy Irons, Adrian Veidt, Watchmen

HBO's Watchmen TV series is a worthy successor to both the comic and the movie (which follows the comic very closely).

Monday, January 13, 2020

Mr R Monday Special: Nicole Kidman, Big Little Lies

Sometimes backgrounds, not Zoe Kravitz, can be the killer, lol.

Like most David E. Kelley productions, we enjoyed Big Little Lies almost as much as we relished the Titans defeat of the Bad Browns Saturday night.

Friday Comic Booker: Vinland Saga #11

Scanner bed too small to capture all the lettering.
Oh well, it's not worth capturing anyway, lol

If you're looking for a fantastic Manga or
great graphic story telling, read Vinland Saga.

Best wishes for a great 2020!
